I ALWAYS TRY AND TAKR THE WHOLE OF DECEMBER OF TO RECHARGE MY BATTERIES AND THIS DECEMBER WAS NO DIFFERENT, I MAINLY CAUGHT UP WITH SOME FRIENDS AND LOTS OF MOVIES, TV AND COMICS.
I don’t do ‘best of’ lists as most of the stuff I listen to or watch isn’t really from this year. I have become terrible at listening to albums and tend to just follow/make Spotify playlists and various Spotify radio stations but here is a little list of stuff I seem to have listened to most this year
- A Tribe Called Quest
I think thats it really, I only listened to Bowie, Frank Ocean, Chance the Rapper once and will probably revisit them this year
TV / FILM
Well obviously December was all about Star Wars Rogue One, and while there were definitely elements that I was not too sure about I actually loved it and even paid actual money to see it twice. It’s had pretty great reviews across the board but I’ve seen people I like who don’t dig it at all. The only issue I had was the CGI Peter Cushing which even though it was well done still looked odd.
I tried to give Netflix’s The OA a go but gave up after 3 episodes, not sure if it was because I wasn’t enjoying it or if I was just distracted at the time as I gave up on a lot of stuff and just went back to Buffy.
Finally caught up with Suicide Squad and it was as bad as people said really, just an absolute mess with Jared Leto giving 2016 its worst performance by an actor, I can see why they cut all his stuff out the film. You can actually see a good film in there, if you look really hard but you can see studio interference with every cut…… And the bloody soundtrack, they obviously though lets just put cool songs over every scene so people month ave a chance to realise how shit this is. While people loved Harley Quinn I thought her accent more annoying than my hardcore scouse neighbours and her jokes crap.
BOOKS & COMICS
Purchased the 1st 2 issues of Kill Or Be Killed by Ed Brubaker and its bloody good, also got the 1st trade of Paper Girls by Brian K. Vaughan and its as good as I was led to believe. Image Comics really do kick a lot of arse and have come a long way in 25 years.
Started reading The Wasp Factory and that seems a right laugh.
